On the other hand, almost anyone who speaks two languages can produce some kind of translation.* However, only professional translators can consistently produce high-grade translations. This bold claim clearly requires some support, especially in today’s society where most people are not even aware that there is such a thing as professional translators.
Our agenda at Tranquality is not hidden. We aim to promote professional translation as a demanding and creative intellectual activity, while at the same time acknowledging that non-professional translators and machine translation have a role to play in society.
Some of us believe that grades of translation can be a tool in the effort to promote awareness of the importance of professional translators. But how will end-users deal with grades? Oh, they won’t. We also want to introduce you to the concept of labels to protect the consumer of translations.
